My daughter goes to a test prep program at NYCGPrep. She’s learning a lot which is great as she’s going to be in 8th grade and taking the test soon. But the school she goes to is in Chelsea near FIT. Can anyone recommend a closer place? maybe in UES or even in Queens?

Soojung Kim3d agoHi Sooyoung! Since we are right on the M/F train line here on the island, getting into Queens is actually super convenient for test prep. Here are a few highly recommended options for the SHSAT that are much closer than Chelsea: 1. Kweller Prep (Forest Hills, Queens): This is widely considered one of the best SHSAT prep centers in the city. The best part is that it's a straight shot on the F train from Roosevelt Island to the Forest Hills-71st Ave station, so she wouldn't have to transfer. 2. Khan's Tutorial (Jackson Heights, Queens): Another very popular and successful program specifically tailored for the specialized high school test. Their Jackson Heights location is just a few stops away on the F train. 3. Bespoke Education (Upper East Side): If you prefer to stick to Manhattan, they have an office on the UES (very easy to get to via the Tram or F train to 63rd St). They are excellent, though they focus a bit more on private tutoring and small group sessions rather than large classes. Hope this helps save some commute time, and best of luck to your daughter on the test!

Laura Fairchild from 4053d agoJust wanted to chime in real quick! Since she’s heading into 8th grade and the test is coming up fast, you might want to check out C2 Education on the UES. They are fantastic because they specialize in highly customized, small-group prep, which is exactly what she needs right now to target her specific weak spots for a quick score boost. https://www.c2educate.com

Anyone know what happened to Graduate? (the hotel in RI)
Hi, I remember there was a hotel with a nice rooftop near the Tram / Cornell Tech. I think it was called "Graduate" if my memory serves me right. I was searching for a hotel but it doesn't show up on Google Map. Do you know what's going on? Are they permanently closed?
